Welcome to the second Artist-in-residence Open Studio of the summer at Slipvillan!

Mälarvarvsbacken 32,

117 33 Långholmen, Stockholm
Metro: Hornstull
2pm-5pm

During their stay in Stockholm, Viennese artists Janine Maria Schneider and Nadine Lemke explore their shared interest in the intersection of textiles and memory. Their artistic practices reflect on structures of textile use, production, and aesthetics, questioning how these elements shape cultural and personal narratives.

At the Open Studio they will give insights in their latest projects which are referencing the former spinnhuset prison, the printed fabrics of Josef Frank and the second life of handicrafts.

From July 25th till August 10th selected works will be presented in an exhibition at artist run space ID:I Galleri in Stockholm.

Afterdrink: Long Island Iced Tea.

Janine Maria Schneider, born in 1986 in Dornbirn, studied Performative Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In her artistic practice, she is engaged with questions of bodily identity in and through public space, architecture, and spatial politics. She primarily works with the media of photography, video, installation, and performance. She is particularly interested in how designed spaces impact human performance and vice versa. Schneider lives and works in Vienna.

Nadine Lemke is working with site-specific crochet installations, photography and drawings. She deals with relations, patterns and personal living environments, particularly the interplay between the past and present - the new emerges from the old. Born in Germany, she studied art in public space at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna as well as sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Dresden. She lives and works in Vienna.

The artists are supported by Voralberg, Sperger, Austrian Embassy Stockholm, Federal Ministry of Art Vienna and Bildrecht Vienna.
