APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Swedish emergent artists can apply by submitting one unique pdf-format document in English that includes:
-a motivation letter
-a text explaining their artistic approach
-visual materials (maximum of 5 artworks)
-a CV and the artist website

DESCRIPTION OF THE CROSS RESIDENCY PROJECT SLIPVILLAN / L'H DU SIÈGE
L’H du Siège and Slipvillan established their first connection in the summer of 2023, when Slipvillan hosted its first French artist, Frédéric MESSAGER, for a residency and a solo exhibition, supported by the Hauts-de-France Region. Building on this collaboration, Slipvillan will welcome another French artist, Apolline GRIVELET, in the summer of 2025, once again from L’H du Siège, with the support of Stockholms stad and the French Institute in Sweden. This last residency will be part of a larger program at Slipvillan titled I gränslandet mellan industrins ruin och naturens återhämtning ("In the borderland between industrial ruin and nature’s recovery"), supported by Kulturrådet.
Following these two successful collaborations, L’H du Siège is now ready to host an emergent Swedish artist for a residency period in Valenciennes.
THE RESIDENCY L'H DU SIÈGE
L’H du Siège – Contemporary Art Center develops an artistic and cultural project focused on the following missions:
- Supporting creation through the production of new works and the hosting of artists in residence;
- Promoting contemporary artistic approaches through an exhibition program;
- Providing tailored mediation according to different audiences, with the goal of expanding cultural offerings.
L’H du Siège is located in Valenciennes (Nord Department, Hauts-de-France Region).
The primary mission of L’H du Siège is to support artistic creation through the production of new works. As such, the art center encourages the hosting of artists in residence and the development of specific projects. It promotes the stay of both international and national artists and ensures a continuous artistic presence in the Valenciennes area.

A period of 3 months (January to Mars) is offered to one emergent Swedish artist. L'H du Siège Residency will provide space and time for research while also offering technical, human, and financial support (residency and production grants). The residency includes meetings with professionals from both the region and beyond. These residencies contribute to artistic vitality by encouraging diversity in artistic expression and promoting artist mobility and emergence.
FACILITIES
An apartment-studio located in the courtyard of L’H du Siège is made available to artists in residence. With a total area of 70m², it consists of a 35m² living space on the ground floor and a 35m² workspace upstairs. Additionally, a second 50m² studio located on the upper floor of the art center is also available to the invited artist.
